It takes a lot to keep places like Banshee Reeks maintained and operating smoothly. While the preserve is owned by Loudoun County Parks & Recreation and has a full- and part-time staff, the staff is small and county budgets can only go so far.
In 2001, The Friends of Banshee Reeks (FOBR) was established as a 501(c)3 non-profit by local citizens to help support the preserve. Their vision: for BRNP to be the regional destination for inspiring the appreciation of nature. PRCS wanted to turn the preserve into ball fields and RV campgrounds - FOBR helped to keep the preserve wild, in support of a conservation easement held by the Virginia Outdoor Foundation which regulates what can be done with the properity.
This short presentation give you further information about FOBR, other associated organizations, and how you can become involved!
